Sreeja Sreedharan - A NEW DAY

In the cold and dark dungeon of life, I lie,
With fear, like a shining dagger, hanging above me,
Voices shrill, prophecies, predictions, fill my ears,
While I struggle, to break away from the shackles of fate,
I find no ray of light, no hope for a future, to look ahead to,
With time, sand in hourglass, flowing out, never flowing in.
Clouds dark, my thoughts, hide in the moonlight and stars from me,
And the peltering raindrops, whispers agonies and woes in my ears.
Heart heavy with pain, I long for freedom, a ground to stand firm,
A ray of light, a hope for a life, without fear, to live to fullest.
Night passes, dawn arrives, with it the first rays of sun,
Bathing me in light, light of a new born hope.
Misty morning, dressed in the robe of dew, with the song of birds,
Awakes me into a day, a day to walk ahead, to live without fear.
