Spooked alligator is a rocket underwater

A drone flying over a small lake in central Florida spots a very large alligator in shallow water. These waterways are teaming with monster alligators who can usually be found sunbathing themselves on shores and small islands. These monster alligators rule the roost, often scaring away smaller alligators from their favourite sunbathing spots.
The drone descends to take a closer look at the beast, but the alligator spots the drone and turns to have a look himself. From the overhead shot, to the close face-to-face view, you get a great view how alligators effortlessly glide through the water.
The drone definitely isn't like any bird this alligator has ever seen before and it sure is noisy. The alligator finally gets spooked by the drone and in a flash, the alligator slips under the surface, and like a rocket, shoots away under water. One second the alligator is here, and the next it is gone.
Male American Alligators can reach upwards of 15 feet in length and have tails that comprises about half of the animal's body length. The tail is useful for propelling and steering themselves in the water. In some cases their powerful tails allow alligators to hydroplane across the surface of the water. Using the muscles in its tail, an alligator can propel itself up to five feet out of the water.
As evident in this video, an alligator can move extremely fast in the water whether to catch their prey or to escape larger alligators. Humans are typically unaware just how dangerously fast an alligator can move, so give them a wide birth if you happen upon one!
