Description
**This is really unbelievable!**** **
**One shot......one kill. ****(It's good to be a good guy)**
**These photos are made by a U.S. sniper team in Afghanistan.***
**They are not made through the shooter's telescopic sight. They are made
looking through the spotter's scope.**
**The spotter lies next to the sniper and helps the sniper to find and home
in on the target. **
**The sniper is using a ...50 caliber rifle. **
**A loaded .50 cal. cartridge is 5.45 inches long from the base of the case
to the point of the bullet. It weighs 4 ounces. The brass casing is ..8
inch in diameter at the base. **
**The bullet itself has a full metal jacket. It is .56 inch in diameter and
2.31 inches long. It weighs 660 grains (1.51 ounce). **
**The bullet leaves the muzzle at 2,800 feet/sec with 11,400 foot/pounds of
energy. For comparison, a one ounce twelve gauge high brass shotgun slug
has 2,361 foot/pounds of energy at the muzzle. The .50 BMG has over 4.8
times as much muzzle energy as the twelve gauge slug!**
**Its effective range is 2,000 yards (over 1.1 miles), although the bullet
will actually travel 7,450 yards (over 4.2 miles).**
**Pay close attention to the beginning of the video. A Taliban is
lying on top of the peak in front of you. When you hear the shot fired,
watch what happens.**
**Our sniper is about half a mile away... or more. **
**Not for the faint of heart!***
