why can't you
just accept me for me
I shouldn't need
to prove myself to you

just have me be myself
and that should be enough
i shouldn't have to
act like someone I'm not

I shouldn't have to
fool you because then
I'd just be fooling myself
to impress you

to have to fake our self
is like faking our lives
so don't play pretend
when the truth lies within

never pretend to be
something your not
just to fit-in
with the 'in' crowd

be yourself
and more people will like you
I've done both
so i know the outcome

don't change yourself
just to please others
go with your heart
and there's nothing you can't do
