small child wakes up with a start
playground altercations smart
Her domain Her bedroom safe
love, control and comfort wait

near by mumbling voices hears
parental talk parental spheres
the door at Her request ajar
the landing light left on for Her

tonight from the ceiling
a private moon beams down
(A mirror and a kitchen plate
positioned by the door)

She pops two fingers in Her mouth
with one hand curls Her hair
looking up She smiles a while
then drifts away to sleep

She has Her spheres of influence
the things that She controls
Her smile, Her room
Her dad, Her moon
