Scott Stevenson - Do It Right

break my firm establishment
in two blinks of two sore pouring eyes
that've seen enough perfidy lately
like kicking a sand castle,
like quick, quiet murder

tear the hope apart like sheets of gold
cut me into long beautiful bleeding pieces
with a mad crow disease
pieces like pennies dropped in bottomless pits of wells
to keep dying wishes alive in wan limelight
pits like cold hidden ditches in my past
that spit up too many awful memories

tear the chance of success from my chest where i guard it
gut me like setting my houses on fire
setting my wife and her pearls on fire
breaking my throat in twenty odd places
to jolt my tremendous singing voice

be cruel, like a witch with minions is
like in her brainwashing or genocide
close me off into the den of lions again
don't be weak and feel, you bring out the knife
and stab another life lesson into my back
whip more scars on top of scars, pull triggers if I beg forgiveness
...do it right, and I won't know how to heal this time...
