Sarah Everson - Life As Is Proscribed
2 Views • Jun 15, 2014
Description
the chain links that surround
were started as ephemeral
with tendrils from the ground.
It would have been so easy
to walk or stride away,
when ties were made in mirrors-
hopes of an endless day.
But the goddess overseeing
shouted 'now the time is nigh
tis now that from your being
flow issue from your thigh.'
Some would call it settling
nations call it right.
neither bad nor mettling
the tethers steel and tight.
Time flows; rushes; so, so, fast,
once tiny burdens find their feet,
their feeding frenzy now gone past
look up, a new day comes to greet.
Now find the soul, it is bereft
the chain holds fast when it is tried,
but with a weakness it is left
for lack of love my soul has cried.
As time flows on, it can't be known
when will the spectre come,
when will this love be fully grown
its song keyed from a hum.
The tether must be teased, unwrapped;
love always finds a way
surely, the pathway has been mapped
as hope and patience stay.
As fate evolves from distant past
and seeks the end of time
tis love itself that we hold fast
and toast with simple rhyme.
