Sarah Bursich - Fireworks (July)

The moist air of a summer night;
I'd almost forgotten the smell of July,
But it's cascading my nostrils
As I pour memories through my own tears.
A bubbly laugh below starry eyes
Admiring starry skies
Forgetting the lies
I force myself to believe.

But not tonight...
In this night, I'm feeling alright
And the world is mine.
So spin me into your arms,
Nestle me up against your side.
Hold me tight as, from the world, I hide.

Loan me your lips once more
So I can be whole once more
So I can understand what I'm here for.
Just a taste, and I'll forget all the worries.
Sweet and soft, I'm in no hurry
So don't hold back.

Sweetheart, give me just this.
And as I feel your lips,
I can hear the fireworks.
Opening my eyes,
I see that they're real.
As real as I could have ever imagined.
As real as it always feels
When we touch.

But moments like these don't last forever.
They don't come around often...
Sometimes never.

As the whirlwind procedes...
I'm drowning in the screams
of my tortured soul.
I find myself trying to cling
Onto something I once had so close.
And now it's fading,
And the pain is returning.
I feel the flame in my heart,
A little too much.
I feel it burning,
And I see myself hurting.
I can't hold myself up anymore,
Though black chipped nails dig
Into the ridges of fading memories.
The flame's on high
and I'm ready to die.
I feel it burning
And, again, I can't help hurting.
