Sandra Dodd - Do Not Kip Tonight
2 Views • Nov 10, 2014
Description
While you sleep
I write
In the relative quiet of the night
Snoring and meowing cheers spur me on
Words come softly whispering to me
“You are not tired, do not kip.
I will show you some of you
you didn’t know.
For inside of you is
treasure trove”
I take to the keyboard.
Blank page in hand.
What will flow
onto the folio
I do not know.
For the moment the keys
are under tips
fingers dance mystically anew.
For thought is skipped
hands control
what heart scribes
to the page without meditation.
Deeper and deeper revealings
on the page appear
as night after night rolls by.
Words whisper of myself
without excision of my fears.
My lusty heart revealed
even to me, oh dear!
Wisdom never known
comes from me to be in my home.
Memories left in the crypt
of my life surge up causing strife.
Knowledge of books long ago read
layered in whispered Words
that are new friends
giving a surprise.
As the morning glows
it seems just a moment
has off beam gone.
Sleep comes to my day
in my dreams I say
“Where did that come from?
My heart not so deep, my eyes feeble,
spirit cloaked, body flubbing.
I did not know
I could find
treasure from innermost! ”
I slumber in the sunrise
just to wake in the fortnight
hearing the whisper of Words
“You are not tired, do not kip.
I will show you some of you
you didn’t know.
For inside of you is
treasure trove”
