Description

Near the town of Hanapepe is Salt Pond Beach Park a must see for every visitor to Kauai. Its named after the natural salt wetlands where Hawaiians have been harvesting sea salt for hundreds of years. Using the natural red clay to form shallow pans to capture salt water brine during the months of June through September.

It is a lifeguard protected crescent shaped beach that is ideal for all types of water activities. Rock outcrops on either side create a natural lagoon with calm waters that families with children will appreciate. The County of Kauai lifeguards are ever watchful professionals that take their jobs seriously.

Visitors will find well maintained restroom facilities along with freshwater showers and protected pavillions with picnic tables and even electric outlets to charge your phone. Large grassy areas are ideal for frizbee or touch football and Plenty of parking that is well lit in the evening.

At the Park you can find BBQ grills for your use. You will need to bring charcoal or you can collect driftwood to get the party going. Another tasty option is to sample Rafael’s Mexican tacos located in the parking lot of the Park. Rafael is a friendly gentleman who uses only fresh ingredients and his work is delicious.
