Description

Cojanu (formerly Gura Aninoasei) is a village in Berca commune, Buzău county, Muntenia, Romania. At the end of the 19th century, the village was the seat of the Gura Aninoasei commune, which included the villages of Băceni, Botanu, Gura Aninoasei (today Cojanu), Rătești, Țâțârligu and Viforâta, with 1,260 inhabitants. The Rătești monastery was located on the territory of this commune, where a school operated. Apart from the monastery, there were two other churches in the commune. In 1925, the Gura Aninoasei commune had already been abolished and included in the Târcov commune. In 1968, the Târcov commune was also abolished, the villages previously belonging to the Gura Aninoasei commune returning to the Berca commune.
