One day soon I will wake up
And start my day
And you will not.

You will not be there too see that I
Made it all right.
And did the things you knew
I could do.

You will be resting cold,
In a box
Covered by dirt,
With a tombstone next to it.

And only in the past
Or tucked deep in my heart
Will you remain.

I’ll wake up and begin my day
But you will not
Because your time is shorter
And forever you cannot stay.
