Rhombus Classical Symphony on TVO (1991)

Description:
A strange made-for-TV screwball classical music by Rhombus Media bit followed by particularly odd block of ads from a 1991 VHS recording of TVO. Individual shorts' details are listed in the end credits but it's a bit hard to trace the overall program. Very well done "Spike Jones" or Ernie Kovacs style tv humor!

*'Prokofiev By Two' consists of two separate performances. 1) 'Romeo and Juliets' (41:15) is the music for Prokofiev's ballet 'Romeo and Juliet' set in a modern ballet video performance. Selected audience members each drift into their own fantasies while attending the ballet. Choreographed by James Kudelka and David Earle and featuring the Toronto Dance Theatre and The Montreal Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Charles Dutoit. 2) In 'The Classical Symphony' (14:12) Prokofiev's 'Symphony No. 1 in D Major' is illustrated with abstract 'classical' images, costumes and themes mimed in a humorous and playful manner by members of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra and conductor Charles Dutoit. Directed by Adrian Marthaler.*”



I was able to trace the final " Prokofiev by Two (Rhombus Media)" segment won a 1992 Gemini award.
