The concept
“For several years now, I’ve been working on a project ” REZZAK BEAUTY INSTITUT” which consists in occupying a space under the theme of eternal youth. This space would comprise tree installations: the “aesthetic surgery room”, the “complements bar”, and the “hair salon”. I would like to start working on the hair and beauty salons. The vast question of the relation to beauty and to youth (which have now become equivalent) is crucially formulated in our society while remaining taboo. Science has found a technical solution to this ontological problem: surgery renamed “aesthetic surgery” and other anti-aging processes. While hybrid creatures, monsters and other mythical creatures have always been a favourite theme from Bosch to Goya as well as for Kubin and Lynch, today, manipulation of the living has brought them into a reality which sometimes surpasses fiction.
