Remembering Zachary Spears (1990-2007)

Zachary Spears was a hard-working young man who supported his large family and a junior at Lumberton High. Before 6pm on December 18, 2007, he was walking with his uncle along the shoulder of Old Silsbee Highway just south of Holmes Road in Lumberton when the 25-year-old drunk driver, Ashley Jean Hardwick of Beaumont, brutally struck him down with her daddy's maroon Mercedes SUV. Hardwick was charged with intoxication manslaughter of Zachary Spears.
