Relaxation Examination Course

Rolf Janzen, one of the best riders of the new discipline Working Equitation, and trainer Kiki Kaltwasser present young horses in the relaxation examination (GHP). The moderator of this video is trainer Klaus Harms. To test the horses level of relaxation a plastic sheet, an umbrella or a bag full of boxes are used to create a noisy and uncomfortable situtaion for the horses. These methods are used tol show the horses's relaxed reactions. It is suggested to do similar practice drills with your horses to train them to stay calm. The more used a horse is to certain noises and situations, the less likely it is that the horse will get scared and bolt. If a horse is trained from a young age on, the rider is safer around his or her horse and the horse itself will feel more comfortable too.
