Reaching Out to Coffee Producers

Coffee Kids is a nonprofit international organization whose mission is to improve the quality of life for families in coffee-growing communities in Latin America. Through its projects in various communities, Coffee Kids seeks to help coffee growers become less dependent on coffee and have access to other sources of income, since coffee is a volatile commodity that doesn't generate revenue all year long. Coffee Kids' philosophy is based on a sustainable vision of global trade. "We shouldn't consider farmers simply as suppliers, but as partners", sums up Peter Kettler, Development Director at Coffee Kids.

Master Roaster Van Houtte has been a partner of Coffee Kids since 1998. Its support has gone toward the development of micro-credit and food security programs, among others. In 2012, Van Houtte pledged to give $60,400.
