The club was founded in 1970 following the merger of Paris FC and Stade Saint-Germain, and competes in Ligue 1, the top tier of French football. PSG play their home matches at the Parc des Princes. With a total of 59 trophies, including 58 major titles, PSG are the most successful club in France. The club is also the most popular football club in the country and one of the most widely supported teams worldwide. PSG maintain rivalries with Olympique de Marseille, with whom they contest Le Classique, and with Paris FC in the Paris derby.
