Proven Techniques for Calming Anxious Dogs
Description
In this video, we will be discussing proven techniques for calming anxious dogs. Anxiety in dogs can manifest in a variety of ways, such as excessive barking, destructive behavior, and even aggression. It is important to understand that anxiety in dogs is not always caused by a traumatic event, but can also be caused by changes in their environment or routine.
The first technique we will discuss is desensitization. This technique involves slowly exposing your dog to the thing that causes their anxiety, in small increments, until they become accustomed to it. For example, if your dog is afraid of loud noises, you can start by playing a recording of a soft noise, such as rain, and gradually increase the volume over time.
The second technique we will discuss is counter-conditioning. This technique involves changing your dog's emotional response to the thing that causes their anxiety. For example, if your dog is afraid of strangers, you can give them a treat or a toy every time they see a stranger, which will change their association with strangers from negative to positive.
The third technique we will discuss is relaxation training. This technique involves teaching your dog how to relax and calm down on command. This can be done by teaching them commands such as "sit," "stay," and "lie down," as well as training them to relax in different environments, such as in the car or at the vet's office.
