In addition, Layer Masks and Adjustment Layers allow you to make a huge variety of image effects and changes without damaging the original image/s underneath (non-destructive changes).

It is essential to minimize post-shoot editing time, especially if you're a professional trying to make a profit. The less time you spend in your digital darkroom the more time you can spend on other money-making tasks.
