William Albert Allard is one of America's most accomplished photographers. His first essay on the Amish for National Geographic in the mid-'60's broke new ground in gaining access and establishing rapport. His images from Mississippi, the Basques of Spain and France, the American West, and Peru demonstrate how Allard brings to photography his compassion for each person he photographs in the tightest of compositions.
