Penny Hemans - Scivvies

there's nae point bein' a scivvie
cos this scivvie's got the grumps

an' fit I dee tae stop it is
pretend I hae the humps

ye ken, it's nae the bother
of comin' hame quite late

an' findin' that their dinner is
still hangin' off the plate

an' sittin' on the sink-side
a bit o' beef an cheese

so all I hae tae dee is
to walk away fae these

so a' ye workin' scivvies
mind, should ye come hame late

jest you ignore the smell o'
that greasy, dinner plate

an' when ye've sat doon gently
an' listened tae their moans

ye can turn the tv on then
an' soothe yer aching bones...

an' when the hoose is quiet
an' ye climb the stairs tae beid

ye can say a silent prayer noo
an' thank the Lord ye're fed

(nae fed up tae the back teeth, mind, jest happy ye hae some time tae yersel)
