Darkness calls like the doomsday bell
The sandman watches beneath hooded veil
Say your prayers before you sleep
For the dreams he weaves will make you weep

From dragons breathe a mist will rise
So stay asleep and don't open your eyes
Now sleep my friend, you'll need your rest
For when terror beats your heart from your chest

With ice cold hands he'll grip your heart
He'll shatter your dreams and rip them apart
Your visions of love, passion and lust
Will become ashes to ashes and dust to dust

He'll laugh as from demons you try to run
To you it's a nightmare, to him this is fun
If you should die before you wake
Beware the reaper or your soul he'll take

When hell crosses over and into your dreams
You'll open your mouth and try to scream
But only silence will echo in your ears
For the sandman knows your deepest fears

As dawn approaches, he'll leave his prey
You'll forget your dreams and face the day
Although you've forgotten the hell dressed in black
He's waiting and watching until you get back
