So many regrets have fallen as I travel through this lifetime

A look over my troubled shoulder sees a mirror full of shadows

Fields of gold that promised much fall fallow on a broken dream

The modern years of living fail to show me a warming smile

This broken heart is all that you can take credit for today

The smiles of a summer love story falls with autumn leaves

I turn my back - search for a truth to heal this shattered man

Another faded prediction that narrates my saddened path

To walk into the never knowing without a hand to hold me steady
