It is commonly located in either the big toe or the smallest toe. Here, a group of microorganisms called Dermatophytes accumulates and multiplies beneath the toenails, making it difficult to remove. Signs and symptoms may range from simple itchiness and irritation to rotten, foul-smelling feet.
