Obed dela Cruz - Rest

I go a distance away from pressures and noises—
Away from a lonely world where tears should have to wait,
Where smiles are forced to come out from those with brokenness;
I choose to run away from the world-dictated fate.

Beyond the stars I look and see a universe
Where balance remains without anyone to protest.
Teary-eyed I enter a land with Crystal Rivers
Where trees bear fruits that are sweeter than all this world’s best.

Though paradise is the most perfect refuging place
But to kiss and pass its gates I do not yet desire
Though deep down I’m so excited to see the King’s face
For I know after a rest there is a greater fire.

I am still here to continue my work and service
And to fulfill to God my allegiance and promise.
