Night time protests in Egypt
Description
ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)
STORY: In scenes reminiscent of last year's Arab Spring protests in Cairo which eventually brought the downfall of Hosni Mubarak, Tahrir square was packed full of men, women and children chanting and clamoring on Wednesday night (January 25).
But one year on, not all of them are celebrating the revolution on anniversary day as the military continues to rule the country after taking over from Mubarak.
Protesters are increasing pressure on their military rulers to hand over power.
Tens of thousands gathered in Tahrir throughout the day on Wednesday (January 25) and in cities across the country to celebrate the passing of one year on the revolution that forced Mubarak from power last year.
Protesters mistrust the military council that took charge on Feb. 11 last year when Mubarak was driven out and which is led by the man who was his defense minister for two decades, Field Marshall Mohamed Hussein Tantawi.
The army has vowed to relinquish power after a presidential poll in June.
