Opportunities Exist Across the Country in the Biotech Sector May 3-6 The U.S. bioscience industry continued to score employment gains through 2008 – the first year of the recent economic downtown, according to a study released by Battelle and the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO). Data shows that publicly traded bioscience-related companies on the whole generated positive net growth through 2009. The bioscience sector continues to be a source of high-wage jobs. The average bioscience job paid $77,595 in 2008, $32,000 more than the average private sector job.
