This remote area located between Kayah State and Shan state with many ethnic groups, is home to several armed ethnic armies, some remain outside the central government's control.
If you travel on full moon day, make sure to bring some food from hotel, restaurants reroute may serve food but very basic or the quantity is limited. But you could see many local women carrying offerings to pagoda for ceremony.
Exciting local market near Loikaw scheduled Monday, Wednesdat and Saturday from 7AM - 11AM. Direct flight from Yangon to Loikaw start from August 2015.
