Muggsy Spanier-Someday Sweetheart
Description
Muggsy Spanier and his Ragtime Band
Here Muggsy plays one of the tunes of his "great sixteen" recorded on July 7th 1939. I personally have been very much influenced by Muggsy and when I play this tune Muggsy's improvisation licks come into my mind all the time. Thank you Muggsy!
Another brilliant solo by Joe Sullivan. Grippingly original as well.
Pops Foster plays another nice solo. To think that Pops already in 1928 played in that great King Oliver band as well. He also was the bassplayer in the famous Louis Russell band and worked with both Louis Armstrong and Sidney Bechet.
Here is one of these seldom seen films with the wonderful Pops! Muggsy Spanier's mutes! Spanier 1964
