Mt Cook Expedition

Here is the accomplishment of an old dream : spending a night surrounded by snow.
The 24th of June 2016, I reached the Mueller Hut (1800m) above the Mount Cook Village (New Zealand). Fully equipped and well prepared, I spent the first night inside the hut.
The 2nd day, I built my first snow cave 100m far from the hut and I had a very warm night. However, the small space avoid me to move properly and to cook inside.
On the 3rd day, I found an amazing spot 15min walk from the hut, on the top of Mt Oliver (1900m) against a rock. After 4h digging and shaping a comfortable space, I moved in and I lived in there for the next 3 nights in total autonomy. My crampons could not bring me as far as I wanted but the view was worth to just sit and watch...
Thanks to a radio in the hut, I could receive calls everyday from the Department Of Conservation which gave me updated weather forecasts. I still thank them for this precious assistance.
