मशहूर रोमम कैथलीक नन मदर टेरेसा की 112 वीं जयंती (Mother Teresa Birth Anniversary) 26 अगस्त 2022 को मनाई गयी.
असहाय और जरूरतमंदो की सेवा में अपना जीवन समर्पित करने वाली मदर टेरेसा (Mother Teresa)का जन्म 26 अगस्त 1910 को मेसिडोनिया (Macedonia) के स्कोप्जे (Skopje) शहर में एग्नेस गोंक्सा बोजाक्सीहु(Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu) के रूप में हुआ था।

अठारह साल की उम्र में उन्होंने स्कोप्जे में अपने पैतृक घर को छोड़ दिया
साल 1929 में भारत आई थीं और नन के एक समुदाय लोरेटो की बहनों में शामिल हो गईं।
1931 में उन्होंने नन के रूप में अपनी धार्मिक प्रतिज्ञा प्राप्त की और 1948 तक कलकत्ता के सेंट मैरी हाई स्कूल में पढ़ाया | (TAUGHT AT ST. MARY'S HIGH SCHOOL, CALCUTTA)

देश में घोर गरीबी पीड़ा और विशेष रूप से 1943 के बंगाल के आकाल ने उन्हें गहरे रूप से प्रभावित किया |
यहां आने के बाद वो बेसहारा और गरीब लोगों की सेवा करने में लग गईं.
उन्होंने कोढ़ जैसे रोग से पीड़ित लोगों की भी सेवा की. तत्पश्चात उन्होंने 1950 में मिशनरीज ऑफ चैरिटी मिशन की स्थापना की.
उनके इसी सेवा भाव और मानवता के लिए किए गए कार्यों की बदलौत उन्हें पूरी दुनिया में पहचान मिली |
वर्ष 1962 में उन्हें पद्मश्री, वर्ष 1979 नोबेल शांति पुरस्कार और वर्ष 1982 में भारतरत्न से सम्मानित किया गया |
87 वर्ष की आयु में 5 सितंबर 1997 को कोलकाता में हृदय गति रुकने से मृत्यु।

4 सितम्बर 2016 को उन्हें संत कि उपाधि से विभूषित किया गया
मदर टेरेसा द्वारा स्थापित संस्था लगभग 123 देशों में मौजूद है.
मदर टेरेसा ने अपना सारा जीवन मानवता कि सेवा के लिए अर्पण कर दिया |
