Mother's Battle

Movie: Battle Royale [2001]: One of my favorite films thematically. The plot is rather convoluted and difficult to follow if you're not familiar with the source material. Still, the themes discussed within the film are enough for me to still love it. I highly recommend watching this cult classic. Imagine Hunger Games, but good.

Music: Tears For Fears - Mother's Talk. This is a classic album that every person should own and memorize. I have two copies (just in case) and know every passage, pause and inflection. It's a brilliant play-through as well. Every track is solid and it's wall-to-wall awesome.

NOTE: This is a part of a project in which I put together a set list and re-edited the whole film to coincide with the set-list. Since the movie is in Japanese I decided I wanted an MC to navigate, in English, the action and psychology. And so I chose Mr. Rogers to lead in or lead out the various tracks. It makes for a fun experience. The editing style for this video is a direct reference to the movie Real Genius [1985] starring Val Kilmer. That movie makes extensive use of montages and it also features a track of of this very album (Everybody Wants To Rule The World). I decided to mimic the montage style as a nod to my 80's roots.
