Description

Moses Dixon is a community development advocate, interdisciplinary collaborator, and policy expert. It has been his great pleasure to build a career based on these aspects of his life, and he continues to grow into a greater future.
Dixon’s career is built on the foundation of a Howard University education, where he earned a Bachelor’s in Political Science. Towards the end of his college career, he worked as a legislative fellow with the United States Senate, with a major part of his experience being his work with a diversity initiative in 2009/2010. This was a profound experience, instilling in him a passion for building up the experience of others through the policy-making process. Moses’ experience in the Senate allowed him to develop an excellent network of professional associates in and outside of the senate. One of his most well-known contributions was his work as an assistant to the Senate Majority Leader of the time, Harry Reid
His interest in a policy-level career pushed him to continue his education, and he soon moved onwards to Clark University for a Master’s Degree. This education further access and certification in the field. While he worked towards this degree, his governmental career would continue with work alongside Worcester City Councilor Sarai Rivera. In 2013, he earned his master’s degree in Community and Public Affairs, furthering his potential.
After completing this degree, he would continue to work in government, but this time he moved towards more state-level advocacy and work. This was the majority of his work throughout the next few years, and he would wear many hats during this time.
In 2015, returned to education and sought out not only an education but also work. He took on a role as an Adjunct Professor at Becker College, where he would teach topics in political science. He also worked with Centro, Inc - a social services organization in Worcester, Massachusetts. There he worked closely with the president and CEO to develop and strategize more fruitful relationships with officials and government agencies.
His Ph.D. career began in 2016 and recently came to a close. He had entered the State University of New York at Binghamton for his study in the field of Community & Public Affairs. His personal fascination with the Interdisciplinary nature of community development was core to his work in the field. His thesis emphasized this by studying the economic and social impact of Concordia College’s closure on Selma’s community. While researching, he also taught topics such as Human Rights Theory and minority-serving institutions in higher education. Beyond this career, he has developed a passionate and loving community within his own personal life. He has been a member of Belmont AME Zion Church in Worcester, where he continues to develop a powerful network of compatriots.
