METRO MANILA UNDER ECQ

The National Capital Region or Metro Manila is under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) from Aug. 6 to Aug. 20, 2021 to contain the spread of the highly transmissible Delta variant of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19). Police checkpoints were visible on the first day of the lockdown and travel was limited to authorized persons outside of residence. Traffic on EDSA was virtually non-existent and so were the riders on LRT-2, which announced that it was shortening its train hours for the duration of the ECQ. The DoH reported over 10,000 Covid-19 cases on August 6, the highest in over four months.
