Memory and Dementia

Dementia is caused by degeneration of the cerebral cortex or the part of the brain that is responsible for thoughts, memory and personality. The severity of dementia is measured by the ability to solve problems or to care for oneself. Some dementia patients forget to bathe or brush their teeth. Some types of memory loss are reversible.
