Description
Bruce Temmis is a skilled professional with experience in personnel management, budgeting, leadership, risk management, and training and development. He was in the United States Army for more than 20 years, where he gained skills that have helped him grow and succeed in his career. In addition to his military experience and education, Bruce attended a real estate course and is working toward completing a master’s degree in human relations. He has an entrepreneurial mindset and hopes to start his own business in the real estate investment industry in the near future.
While in the army, after completing basic training, receiving a strong foundation of skills, and working his way up, Bruce began taking on leadership roles. In 2010, Bruce became a Department Manager (Platoon Sergeant), where he provided direction to four squad leaders regarding the maintenance and accountability of all platoon equipment. His role contributed to the safety and success of squad members. He had created and implemented a program focused on the proper wear of protective equipment, which resulted in zero injuries caused by a lack of personal protective equipment. Bruce spent two years in this role before taking on a new role as a Senior Instructor (Senior Drill Sergeant).
As a Senior Instructor, Bruce oversaw and executed various training courses that were offered to hundreds of soldiers annually. Aside from offering training courses, Bruce was also responsible for the overall health, morale, discipline, professional development, and training of various individuals and teams. Bruce successfully attained 100% first-time turn-in-rate for all assigned equipment by promoting the importance of equipment care. Within a few years, Bruce’s success in this role propelled him into a new position as Company Manager (First Sergeant), where he provided hands-on assistance to the commander in planning, coordinating, and managing all activities to support the unit’s mission.
Bruce’s ability to manage and improve team success, safety, and overall wellness led him to take on the role of Senior Equal Opportunity Advisor (Diversity and Inclusion). He supported thousands of soldiers, civilians, and family members through developing and implementing new policies and procedures. Bruce Temmis is passionate about helping others succeed and ensuring they are equipped to do so. Eventually, Bruce became the Equal Opportunity Program Manager and was the senior advisor to a two-star commanding general regarding equal opportunity matters. His work ethic was recognized and he received distinction as the top 10 percent of EO program managers through his ability to manage complex organizations and executing outstanding performance while only having limited personnel.
