10 Things We Want in Andromeda
1. More life into the world
- Characters had so much backstory, by the end of Mass Effect 4 I felt like I had really had a connection with the characters. This is what made Mass Effect for me, sadly though the same thing couldn't be said about the worlds. Besides the story NPCs, there wasn't much you could do.
Even the little things matter, for example npcs going on about their business depending on the time of day and not always just standing there. npcs making small remarks towards you depending whether or not you're good or evil. And maybe....Just maybe...an open world?
2. No anticlimatical Ending
I know a lot of the bad feedback that comes from Mass Effect is that people felt as if they put hours and hours into their characters, making a ton of decisions, which in the end didn't really matter. You were given 3 different endings, which all had the same result. Did you save an important character in Mass Effect 1? Did half of your crew members die in Mass Effect 2? In Mass Effect 3 did you create one of the most effective military to fight against the reapers? The game made you feel as if none of that mattered.
Although I have to say the Citadel DLC really did make up for a lot of mistakes. Shooting cans with Garrus and just getting to know him better, then afterwards throwing a huge party was sort of bittersweet ending. I knew the game would have to come to an end, but I just didn't want it too...
Mostly because of how bad the ending was, but anyway. Please EA and Bioware don't rush this one.
3. More character, weapon, and armor customization
Please bear with me with this one. I know that customizations were already in the game, especially for online. The problem is, a lot of the core features were dumbed down for a more casual gaming experience after Mass Effect 1. Alot of the roleplaying elements were also removed after the first game.
In the Mass Effect 1 you had an array of options when it came to customization and buying armor. In the other Mass Effects it just felt like you were doing it more for cosmetics purposes just to look a bit better. In the end this doesn't have a major impact on the story and outcome of the game, but can have a major effect on the way you play.
For example, creating your own weapons, your own armor, and maybe even buying parts cheap, then making your own armor and selling it for a higher price than you original bought the parts for.
This not only makes us invest more hours, but also it's just another option to the game, so no harm done if you're a casual player.
