Medina, a city in present-day Saudi Arabia, holds significant importance in Islamic history. After the Prophet Muhammad and his followers faced persecution in Mecca, they migrated to Medina in 622 CE, an event known as the Hijra. This migration marks the beginning of the Islamic calendar.

In Medina, Muhammad established a Muslim community and developed the first Islamic state. The city became a central hub for the early Muslim community and played a crucial role in the spread of Islam. Key Islamic events, such as the establishment of the Constitution of Medina and various battles like Badr and Uhud, occurred there. Today, Medina is home to the Prophet’s Mosque, which is a major pilgrimage site for Muslims.
