Description

It’s not Christmas yet, cooed the doves in a drift
Look to the market square and you’ll find a gift

When the gift pulls you back in a shaded lane
Explore the rewired, explore the insane

Our reflection was blurred in ripples of trails
Now where are the swans that created these tales?

I guess they’re away in some out of sun place
Then this thought takes me back to our first embrace

Drunk as you are you think you can howl
And we look up like wolves at the moon’s scowl

Suddenly the wind tastes like New Year’s Eve
So should I celebrate? Should I not leave?

I pick at my food and you pick at my hair
Like Gibbons at dinner in tropical air

Thinking then drinking and sinking in thought
It’s not fair to judge you from when I fell short

In the flowers disturbing the termites below
We snap and we chase then we laugh and I glow

Drawing ridged lines reflected into two
Trembling myself, dripping down the sight of you

Bald eagles soar round the edge of the coast
Never on holiday have I felt such a ghost

Paradise is short of one person you say
Now I need some control to fast-forward, press play

I could show you the sky till you fell asleep
Then you me the angelfish where we swam deep

I see that now all my thoughts of doubt have past
My idea is this disposition will last

Even when the black vultures fill all the sky
Will it only be you that I’ve called “my guy”
