Marilyn Shepperson - A Log Fire
3 Views • Nov 07, 2014
Description
The sort that goes right through you
And freezes you to the marrow
The sun is setting and it's dark with clouds
So, don't sit by the window, staring at the gloom
And stay well away from the door
Draw your chair up closer; enjoy my warmth
Gaze into my flames of scarlet and gold
Pay no heed to the spit of pine logs
As my heat splits them, the sap sparks green
Dream as I relieve the aches of joints
That winter has painfully chilled
Dream as I also ease your sorrows
And make the world seem a better place
I am your friend; I'll burn all night
Come, bring on the muffins for me to toast.
