Marilyn Lott - Flowers or Weeds?

As I start my springtime weeding
Uncertainty flows over me
For sometimes I’m not sure
What this tiny plant will be

I want to be so careful, of course
To not pull out the wrong thing
Everything is growing now
After all, my friend, it’s spring

And that is the same with people
On our list of ‘so called’ friends
We aren’t always sure they are
For there can be many blends

Whether relationships or flowers
Before we plant those tiny seeds
We need to ask ourselves
Are they flowers or are they weeds?
