The sky, the flowers, the grass,
All these are in my poem
For you, darling Maria,
The day you go to Brussels.

The birds are in my poem
Too, my birds, the birds I feed.
It's a poem of early
Morning sunshine, when the world

Is warm-blooded and youthful
And no disasters occur.
It's a love-song, a patchwork
Of medieval Romance.

Il cielo, i fiori, l'erba,
Tutto questo è nella mia poesia
Per te, cara Maria,
Il giorno in cui vai a Bruxelles.

Gli uccelli sono nella mia poesia
Anche i miei uccelli, gli uccelli che nutro.
È una poesia del primo
Sole del mattino, quando il mondo

Ha il sangue caldo ed è giovane
E non si verificano disastri.
È una canzone d'amore, un mosaico
Da romanzo medievale.
