Manila Envelope

A brief neo-classical guitar duet.I performed both parts on a steel string Ovation acoustic; adding a small amount of synth texture for flavor,and a healthy dose of processed drum loops.Working with the drum loops was easiest and most fun.The guitar parts were very difficult because I had to memorize the parts and then track them.Too much like work!

I was greatly pleased when Leonard Andrei Corcuera,a most talented musician and songwriter of the Philippines, answered my email and agreed to provide original verse spoken in Tagalog, his native language.I am very happy with the results,but I am not surprised.I have provided a link at the top of this description to some of the original work he has done with his band: Leo and the Tolstoy's.I find their music to be interesting and quite refreshing.Better than Mountain Dew! My favorite tracks are:

Fe del Mundo (1911--2011) was a Filipino pediatrician who was the first woman to be admitted to Harvard Medical School in 1936 — over ten years before the school officially began admitting women. She was also the first woman to be named National Scientist of the Philippines in 1980, and founded the first pediatric hospital in the Philippines.

Jose Rizal (June 19, 1861) was a Filipino nationalist, novelist, poet, ophthalmologist, journalist, and revolutionary. He is widely considered the greatest national hero of the Philippines.Because of his efforts to free the Filipino people from the yoke of colonialism,he was convicted of rebellion sedition,and conspiracy, and executed on December 30, 1896 by the Colonialist Spanish Army.
