Watch as a determined man climbs down a dangerous embankment to save a tiny kitten trapped beside a pond.

The heartwarming rescue was filmed by Liang Yingin Huizhou, China.

The video shows a man dressed in black carefully lowering himself down a steep wall with the help of a long mop handle and a friend above.

The descent proves difficult, with the rescuer nearly losing his footing as he makes his way toward the stranded animal.

Reaching the marshy edge of the pond, he walks barefoot through the shallow water and gently picks up the helpless kitten.

After safely carrying the kitten back to the bank, the pair attempt to work out how to get back up the towering wall.

A plan to lift the kitten using the mop handle is quickly abandoned due to the height of the embankment.

Holding the kitten securely, the rescuer looks for a route to safety while his friend reassures him that both he and the kitten will make it back up.
