Major Electrical Problem Found in HiAce Camper Conversion - Van Build Episode

Welcome back to our HiAce camper conversion series! Matt and Chrissy from Couple of Sitters are back from New Zealand to continue their van renovation project.
Today we're solving electrical mysteries that stumped us completely. Our ceiling fan circuit wasn't working properly, and what seemed like a solar installation problem was actually a confusing fuse panel with interconnected fans that don't match the wiring diagram.
Yesterday's shopping trip to Bunnings and our importer yielded felt material that will transform the van's harsh wooden interior. This lightweight solution provides soft furnishings while maintaining the crucial weight restrictions of HiAce camper conversions.
Current progress includes installing 3mm plywood panels on the van sides, especially around king-size drawer areas with smooth cupboard cavities. Late night work sessions (sometimes until 8 PM) ensure perfect panel fitting with proper backing padding.
Key improvements focus on reinforcing mounting areas for GPOs (power outlets) and solar control panels. We've added extra 3mm plywood layers creating solid 12mm substrates, preventing the common issue of power points pulling from walls during plug/unplug operations in lightweight van builds.
Today's work involves cutting and fitting additional wall panels with precisely measured wire access holes. Next comes roof installation - contouring plywood across the ceiling, attaching to support battens while maintaining access to ventilation fans and lighting fixtures.
Roof work demands careful planning given multiple lights and two fans requiring proper access points. Double-measuring ensures seamless wire routing and fixture installation.
This HiAce conversion mirrors house renovations - extensive foundational work happens behind scenes before dramatic finishing touches appear. We expect felt installation and final details to progress rapidly once this phase completes.
