Lora Colon - My Addiction

I'm numb to the pain of loneliness,
Unable to feel its sting,
I can't respond to the emptiness,
Or the despair it used to bring

I can't remember the burning tears
I cried in my solitude,
Nor the long nights that were filled with fears
When terrifying thoughts would intrude

I found remnants of a chain I wore
That shackled me to a stone,
A dark abyss was mine to explore,
Where I always found myself alone

I vaguely recall the sleepless nights
Consoling my weary heart,
Forcing my spirit to soar to heights
Where I could smile, and healing would start

No longer is my fate predicted
In the sad song of the dove,
I'm drugged..... and hopelessly addicted
To the opiate that is your love!
