Leslie Briggs - The Angel

Description
Pressing down upon my shoulders,
I struggled to break free but was unable,
Pressing down with the strength of many boulders.
I looked upon the angel's face,
And I noticed something strange,
Something of his features told me of his strength and grace,
Suddenly they were distorted in to something different.
I noticed sobs coming from the angel,
Was I dying? Departing from our known world?
Don't cry, beautiful angel. Then I noticed my own tears,
That's when my vision became swirled.
The darkness swarmed back over me,
When I noticed the fire in my hand,
And the searing pain that came just below the knee,
'It's me! Peter! ' the angel shouts in my ear.
Peter? Who's Peter? Why should I know this name?
When suddenly I notice a white light in the darkness,
It's lovely rays cascading over the pool of black,
I begin to move closer, It seems completely harmless.
Suddenly everything bacomes still,
'Can you hear me? ! ' the angel screams,
His voice filled with anxious thrill,
'I love you...' he whispers solemnly.
That was all I heard from the angel,
As I ran towards the light,
I suppose I was too far to hear,
And now I regret running towards something so bright.
