Le professeur Smith, un sud africain passionné par le poisson préhistorique : le Cœlacanthe, part à la traque de ce "fossile vivant" aux Comores. Le Cœlacanthe a été pêché maintes fois au large des Comores, On dit même qu’il ne vit nulle part ailleurs qu’au large de cet archipel de l’Océan Indien. L'âge du Cœlacanthe est estimé à 410 Millions d'années. La dernière prise d’un Cœlacanthe a été observée sur l’île d’Anjouan le Vendredi 10 Août 2007.
