I Remember

I remember a day when the horses ran free
Wild, untamed and majestic
A day when life was easy
And the world was not so hectic

I remember a day when the world was nice
Where people could leave doors unlocked
Where neighbors borrowed sugar and spice
Where the world was not run by a clock

I remember a day when the sun shone bright
Not amidst a cloud of smog
That covers the cities day and night
Cities that were once wetlands and bog

I remember a day when the Artic was ice
And the glaciers were more than large pools
When the gifts of the world were a secret tryst
Before video games were cool

I remember a day as before the west was won
Before innocent people dying in wars
When children had only innocent fun
Where highrises were considered only three floors

I wish for a day where no man is sad
Where happiness and kindness prevail
Where the world in its natural glory is what makes us glad
This will be possible by a cross and a nail.
